Words from Emma our founder, reflecting on the journey of the last 9 years of Embrace, 10 including the study, who also runs a private coaching practice alongside Embrace.
‘You may or may not know, that along side my private coaching practice. I founded and
continue to run my own social enterprise Embrace PFC CIC, where I use my professional skills, alongside my personal experience to help people just like me as what is known as a lived experienced leader.
9 years ago today I became a fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs, where I studied for a year to learn about becoming a social entrepreneur, I did this on top of studying for my first degree with the The Open University, being full time employed supporting someone with a brain injury, doing relief shifts with high risk offenders and whilst experiencing two separate and significant bereavements. It was a tricky time to get through, yet I don’t regret knuckling down and getting through it for one minute, because it has changed many lives.
I was and still am passionate about being able to bring my work to people who cannot afford to access it in any other way, people who are just like me, so Embrace is focused on primarily supporting vulnerable young people and women who have experienced domestic abuse, I know I wish I had someone like me supporting me through those tough times, so I know the importance of this work.
So far Embrace has helped 230 people directly, which would translate to over 1000 people indirectly as a conservative estimate, and we have delivered over 850 hours of coaching in that time.
Embrace does lots of great work which I am really proud of, and now I am back in the UK we are rebuilding to continue being able to support people. I don’t talk about it often, because it is not about me, it is about the people Embrace supports, it is about giving people a chance to move past what has happened to them and create a future they deserve. If you want to learn more, please do let me know, and if you want to consider supporting us through your CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) we can maybe have a chat.’
